Fostering Internet-based Values of the Environment

Svetlana Khromova

Postdoctoral Researcher

I completed my undergraduate studies in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Cartography, and Environmental Engineering, and my master’s in Urban Planning.

I am a PhD candidate researching how cities can adapt to climate change by integrating nature into urban spaces. My work in BIG-5 examines how people perceive and interact with nature in their neighborhoods, using social media data to assess satisfaction and relation with green spaces. I focus on developing theories, designing research, and analyzing the relationship between people and nature, with a particular interest in incorporating a spatial perspective. My research is interdisciplinary, combining environmental science at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (ICTA-UAB) with computational social science at the Barcelona Supercomputing Centre (BSC).
