Fostering Internet-based Values of the Environment

Priscila Gonçalves Costa

PhD Researcher

I am currently pursuing a PhD in Applied Ecology at the Luiz de Queiroz College of Agriculture, University of São Paulo (expected completion in 2026). I also hold a Master’s degree in Ecotourism and Conservation, with a focus on Conservation and Sustainability, as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences. Additionally, I have a specialization in Environmental Law and a second Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Management. Throughout my academic career, I have focused on studies related to the management and administration of protected natural areas, with a strong emphasis on conservation, environmental education, and social mobilization. This experience closely aligns with the objectives of the BIG-5 project, particularly in terms of promoting conservation efforts through digital engagement.

As a PhD-level researcher on the project, I contribute to developing the methodology for identifying «Relational Digital Values» through data analysis from various social media platforms, such as X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram. I am also responsible for conducting and analyzing a comprehensive literature review. Additionally, my work involves leveraging digital social network analysis as a methodological foundation to apply the concept in specific study sites across Brazil, where I will focus on linking social engagement to local conservation efforts.
